Morowali Natural Reserve

It can be reach by bus fom palu to kolonodale for about 431 kilometres, or 10 hours of drive and from kolonodale contunue on motorboat for about an hour.
This reservation covers 225,000 hectares and located at morowali regency. occupied by a large number of animals and served as a rainforest reservation on sulawesi island. it covers variety of ecosystems, from the beach front, mangroves, alluvial lowland, swamp forest, hill forests and moss forests rising at 2,600 metres above sea level. it also covers a lake and three main rivers.

The wana people, who do not recognize modern life-styles, inhabited this natural reserve at Posangke, Kayupoli, Uwemaju, Ratobea, Sangkoe, and Langada villages with a population of 2,000 lives.

This island was once visited by Sir Francis Drake of England in the 17th century during his voyage around the world. to commemorate his journey, operation Drake was held in 1980 carried out by scientists and students for social and ecological studies of the Morowali area.
